Epoxy resin Resinpal 1717-N3 is a high-quality, crystal-clear and solvent-free casting resin. The UV-resistant synthetic resin is used for the production of crystal-clear cast bodies, for pouring wood (e.g. river table) and wherever larger pouring quantities and thicker layers are required with one encapsulation in order to avoid optical thermoclines. The maximum layer thickness per casting application is 20 cm. The maximum pouring amount is 15 kg per work step.
The crystal-clear resin based on epoxy resin is characterized above all by its very low odor and bubble-free work even in high layers.
The very long open time and the slow continuous hardening over 72 hours ensure very good ventilation and low exothermicity, even with larger casting applications.
The crystal-clear and low-shrink epoxy casting resin Resinpal 1717-N3 must be mixed by weight (100 parts resin to 45 parts hardener).
How much Resinpal 1717-N3 casting resin can I cast in one application? The epoxy casting resin Resinpal 1717-N3 can be cast up to a casting height of approx. 15 cm. However, we recommend not to pour more than 15 kg per application.
Is Resinpal 1717-N3 suitable for stabilizing wood? Yes. Resinpal 1717-N3 has a very long processing time and a very low exotherm. The resin penetrates very deeply into the wood thanks to a vacuum and remains sufficiently flexible during turning.
How strong is the odor of Resinpal 1717-N3 during processing? The Resinpal 1717-N3 casting resin based on epoxy resin has very little odor.
Can I color Resinpal 1717-N3 with acrylic colors? Since Resinpal 1717-N3 is an epoxy resin, we only recommend adding epoxy colors and translucent colors.
The casting resin has turned white, tough or solid in the bottle. What can I do? Epoxy resins can crystallize above a certain temperature. This can happen if the product is stored too cold or during shipping. This process can be reversed by adding heat (approx. 50 °C), for example by placing the container (open the lid first) in a water bath or saucepan.
