How to Process Resinpal 1705 Polyester Resin Correctly

1Prepare the Surface Thoroughly clean, degrease, and dry the surface. Sand old coatings if necessary.

2Put On Protective Equipment Wear nitrile gloves, safety goggles, and a respirator mask (at least FFP2). Ensure good ventilation.

3Check the Temperature The room temperature must be at least 18 °C. At lower temperatures, the curing time increases significantly.

4Measure the Resin Weigh the required amount of resin into a clean mixing cup.

5Add MEKP Hardener Add 1.5–2% MEKP hardener (15–20 g per 1 kg of resin). At higher temperatures, use closer to 1.5%.

6Mix Thoroughly Stir evenly for approximately 1–2 minutes, making sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the cup.

7Apply the Resin Apply evenly with a brush or roller. Place the fiberglass mat and laminate it into the resin.

8Remove Air Bubbles Roll out air bubbles with a laminating roller. Build up additional layers wet-on-wet.

9Allow It to Cure Allow approximately 24 hours at room temperature. The surface cures tack-free, so no intermediate sanding is required.

Tips for Optimal Results
Resinpal 1705 is supplied in metal containers. This significantly reduces styrene emissions compared with plastic canisters. Close the container securely after removing material.
Multiple layers of fiberglass mat can be laminated directly on top of each other without waiting for intermediate curing. This produces strong laminates without voids.
Use only polyester-compatible pigment pastes (maximum 5%). Epoxy pigment pastes are unsuitable and may interfere with curing.
Safety Instructions
Resinpal 1705 contains styrene (H226, H315, H319). The MEKP hardener is classified as a hazardous substance (H225, H360F, H373). Always work in well-ventilated areas, wear appropriate protective equipment, and avoid contact with skin and eyes. Keep away from heat sources and open flames.
