Step-by-Step Application
-
1
Prepare the substrate Make sure the surface is clean, dry, and free of grease. Prime absorbent substrates (wood, concrete) if necessary. Room temperature min. 18 °C.
-
2
Weigh resin and hardener Use digital scales: 100 g resin to 50 g hardener (2:1 by weight). Larger quantities increase heat development – it is better to mix several smaller batches.
-
3
Mix components Stir thoroughly for at least 3 minutes – guide the stirrer along the sides and bottom. Stir slowly and evenly, avoiding air bubbles.
-
4
Transfer to a second cup (optional) Pour the mixture into a second cup and stir briefly again. This prevents unmixed residue on the inside wall of the cup.
-
5
Apply Pour the mixture slowly and evenly – max. 5 mm layer thickness. Spread with a brush or laminating roller.
-
6
Remove air bubbles Briefly pass a hot air gun over the surface from a distance of approx. 20 cm. Heat helps bubbles rise and burst.
-
7
Allow to cure Cover the surface to keep it dust-free and allow it to cure for 24 hours at min. 18 °C. Final strength is reached after approx. 7 days.
-
8
Finishing (optional) After full curing, sand and polish. Apply additional layers only after full curing and light sanding.
Tips & Safety
Common Mistakes When Applying Resinpal 2416
- Application temperature too low (<18 °C) – resin does not cure completely or remains sticky
- Stirring too quickly or intensely – air bubbles are mixed in
- Incorrect mixing ratio – sticky or overly brittle layer
- Layer too thick (>5 mm) – excessive heat development, cracks, yellowing
- Mixing directly in the original container – unmixed material at the edges distorts the ratio
- Insufficient mixing time – unmixed hardener remains as a sticky film
- Surface not covered – contamination before curing
